The first day!

When we saw the hotel, the first thing we thought of was how sketchy it looked. But once inside, it was hygge (cozy)! The front desk person was extremely nice, explaining to us all the things we needed to know. We arrived at our small, but very functional room. Both my mother and I agree that the layout of the room was really efficient in terms of space-wise. The bathroom was small, with only a shower, toilet and sink. However, there was a heater in there to keep you warm and cozy when you got out of a shower. There was also a small TV in the room – so we were okay with the booking choice. We noticed that there are a lot of American shows with Danish subtitles. My favorite part of the hotel was the cute backyard! Image

After settling in and taking an hour nap (okay two hours), we went to explore the area. While walking, we unknowingly arrived at the longest European street, Stroget. The street was filled with shops, restaurants, and bars. A blend of contemporary and traditional buildings lined the streets, while narrow streets veered off into other streets. Image

For lunch we stopped in a bagel shop to grab a small pizza pie. There was a flower stand, filled with fresh flowers, right next to the bakery. They were decently priced, I would have brought one if I was not living in a hotel.

After some time, little flurries filled the air. We did not expect Copenhagen to be so windy and cold! It got dark really fast so we headed back home for dinner.

For dinner, we went to a Thai place right across from our hotel. The food wasn’t great even though the rice was in the shape of a heart. And it was extremely pricey. That’s one factor that really shocked us, the price! Compared to America, Denmark is really expensive. A cup of coffee from 7/11 is around $5! I could get a cup of coffee from Starbucks back home with that price.

We spent the rest of the night (since there’s only 7 hours of daylight in Denmark right now) watching TV and chatting.

Kroners!
